Description

We are currently looking for a Social Media Manager to fill a position with one of the industry leaders in green agriculture and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

- building and "owning" the brand voice on social media and other 3rd party platforms

- managing & collaborating with 3rd party agencies and content creators: scheduling, managing, budgets, finding and creating appealing content for the audience

- schedule and manage social media content production (content calendars)

- grow and support follower/fan base and be the "voice" of the brand(s)

- collaborate with the marketing team + sales for campaign creation, brainstorming, social creation processes

- keeping up to date with social media trends, tools and finding your way to leverage them for your campaigns

- seeking out and finding ways to collaborate with influencers in the industry: discovery, able to qualify good potential influencers, finding amicable ways to create a win/win for the influencers and our brand

- reporting on performance metrics and deriving value and opportunities from them

- Familiarity of Facebook, Instagram ads (ads, boosted posts, etc.)

- a passion for marketing and social media. Possesses energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to experiment and take ownership. Always looking for new ways to tweak and improve. Someone who is in competition with themselves in the quest of betterment of your role. Driven to do better, and to lend that energy and support your colleagues with their marketing endeavors.

- passion for learning within your discipline and others that are related to it

- high level of integrity and self-motivation. "Willing to do the right thing when no one is watching" - double-checks their work, etc.

- a strategic thinker who can understand the value of quick wins, but also constantly working toward the incremental growth of the "long game". Someone who can identify areas for growth and find creative ways to test them out and constantly think of the end-game. (Where will be 1, 2 years from now, and what steps will we take to get there?)

- good problem-solving skills when things don't "exactly fit" as intended and exceptions arise. How to turn a defeat into a minor victory and find a workable angle in any given situation.

- ability to tie in your creative efforts to metrics that impact the commercial growth and exposure of the brand

- strong understanding of social media strategy and implementation, testing and learning and data driven.

- attention to detail - understanding the importance and the impact of the little things

- 4-6 years of experience of managing and delivering successful social media strategy

- strong community management skills - - good social media conversational skills (following the tone of the brand, conversing, and nurturing the engagement of the conversation)

- strong knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (what works, what doesn't what little nuances are permitted and what isn't)

- knowledge of Reddit, and other discussion forums and comfort in participating in them and leveraging the brand on those platforms while walking the fine line of non-self-promotion, but rather being helpful to the community as a helpful resource which indirectly promotes the brand.

- ability to read and derive success indicators from insights and performance tools and "feeling the vibe" of the community you will be managing

- good familiarity with social media management tools: HootSuite, SproutSocial, etc.

- understands the importance of creating engaging content and has a few tricks up their sleeve for social media Content that drives action (likes, shares, comments, etc.).

- Ability to learn and understand your target audience and learning about "what makes them tick" and then leveraging it.

- excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Working understanding of French.

- good familiarity and understanding of marketing principles both theoretical and practical: such as good construction of "teasers", call to action phrases, when short content is better, when long content is better. When to apply a certain tone to a given piece.

- good understanding of best practices and a good feel of when to stick to, bend or break rules and the best way to do it.

- examples of social marketing successes and wins and accounts you have managed

- familiarity with the use of link shorteners, and campaign tagging for URLs (utms etc.)

 

 

Assets:

- knowledge of Pinterest a plus

- familiarity with Reddit and other forums

- knowledge of Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Constant Contact or other email service

- familiarity with LinkedIn content posting and conversation

- any coding experience is an asset but not required (html, css, etc.)

- Google Analytics familiarity

- Good computer skills: (knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite, Spreadsheets, etc.)

- Experience with graphics not a requirement but a definite asset to have (Photoshop, illustrator, or other). This comes in very handy when you want to spice up your social game, create infographics, illustrations, etc.

- understanding of print advertising a plus (magazines, brochures, papers, etc.)

- familiarity with ecommerce and CMS platforms such as: magento, shopify, bigcommerce, wordpress etc.

- blogging / copywriting skills, proofreading skills

- familiarity or passion with gardening, soil, botany is a definate asset.

- eager to learn, as training can be provided on any areas that you need help with.
